WIZ
WIZ
WIZ is a trio formed by three referents of the jazz scene of the Iberian Peninsula (Spain/Portugal). The repertoire is based on original compositions of all three of them, leaving plenty of room for improvisation and experimentation.
The atypical format with no bass opens up the soundscape for surprise, both for the audience and themselves. Different colors merge and result in new colors. Zé Pedro Coelho and his unexpected melodies on the saxophone get tangled up in the subtleties of Wilfried Wilde’s guitar playing, together with the attentive textures that Iago Fernández’s drumming creates. Resonating melodic lines contrast with moments of complex structures and free improvisation. Everything comes together in a very natural and integrated way, having enough trust to explore and push boundaries.
